    * Medium  Goose Breeds:-  Brecon Buff

Brecon Buff  are medium  geese  originally from the Brecon Beacons  in South Wales and one of the few breeds from the UK. Bred  by Rhys Llewellyn who crossed some buff geese 'sports' from a  mixed flock  back with an Embden gander in the 1930's. mentioned in  1934, as breeding true and by 1954  accepted into the British Poultry Standards .

They are hardy and are a good broody but may be clumsy with eggs/babies. As they grow to feathering  their bills should turn pink in babies. Bills should NEVER be orange, as this is the first to go if crossbred . There should be no white feathers under their chin, in their primary or secondary feathers but many grow a thin line of white feathers around the top of the bill  as they age
making it obvious if a bird is mature or baby

For housing  use a large dog kennel or small garden shed to house the  geese.  During the winter they need  to be protected against rain, wind, and snow . The shelter must be waterproof, predator proof and well ventilated ( goose crap is high in ammonia so small places produce quite a smell). At night these geese must be penned up being vulnerable with their quiet  and trusting nature to two and four legged predators.

For bedding  use straw, paper shreds, wood chip, wood shavings or  hay, although I do prefer hay for the nests. Recommend mucking out the geese enclosure every 1-3 weeks, depending on how many geese you have in the enclosure, and how big the enclosure is.
